Dietary carbohydrate intake is more closely related to plasma palmitoleic acid, a biomarker consistently associated with adverse health outcomes. The serum saturated fatty acid level remained the same across a wide range of dietary saturated fatty acid intake.

Comment: This study suggests that a high carbohydrate intake is worse than a high saturated fatty acid intake in terms of health outcomes, however, beware.... a surrogate marker (palmitoleic acid) was utilized so these findings are preliminary.
