Higher potency statins (rosuvastatin ≥10 mg, atorvastatin ≥20 mg, and simvastatin ≥40 mg) were found to be associated with a moderate increase in the risk of new onset diabetes compared with lower potency statins. The rate increase in diabetes onset associated with higher vs lower potency statins was 1.15.
