This meta-analysis found no cardiovascular benefit of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids over dietary saturated fatty acids. Dietary trans fatty acids however appeared to increase risk.

Comment: Statistically, there was no clear benefit of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids over saturated or monounsaturated fatty acids. Dietary supplementation with polyunsaturated fatty acids also did not appear to be of benefit, although supplementation with omega 6 polyunsaturated fatty acid supplements might possibly (but not definitely) be better than linoleic fatty acid supplements.
